Intracerebral Hemorrhage - Basal Ganglia and Thalamus with Intraventicular Extension

A 58 year-old man with a history of hypertension presented with a global aphasia and right sided weakness which developed over forthy minutes.

Outline the Hemorrhage                            Show the Enlarged Lateral Ventricles

CT scan of the head. Note the large intracerebral hemorrhage. The hemorrhage is so large that it is involving the left basal ganglia and thalamus. Also note that the blood has spread into the adjacent lateral ventricle. In addition, the lateral ventricles are "trapped" and enlarged.
