Carotid Artery Dissection - Case 8

A 28 year-old woman presented with right neck pain and a right Horner's syndrome after a mild motor vehicle accident.

Show the "String Sign" of the Carotid Dissection                      Show the Distal Reconstituted Internal Carotid

Right Carotid Angiogram. Note on the angiogram the abrupt tapering and "string sign" of the internal carotid artery. This is one of the classic appearances of a dissection.
