Case 9 - Piliocystic Astrocytoma

A 37 year-old man presented with a headaches and gait instability.

(Left) Axial Flair MRI; (Right) Sagittal T1-weighted image with gadolinium. Note the obvious hydrocephalus on the Flair Image with the surrounding transependymal edema. On the sagittal scan, the the large cystic cavity with the enhancing tumor nodule near the foramen magum. Among gliomas, piliocystic astrocytomas are one the most curable tumors by surgical resection.
