Brain Abscess - Case 2

A 37 year man presented with one week of progressive fever, headache, confusion and left sided weakness.

Show the Abscess Cavity          Show the Gadolinium Enhancement of the Rim          Show the Midline Shift

MRI scans: (Left) Axial T1-weighted; (Middle) Axial T1-weighted with gadolinium; (Right) Coronal T1-weighted with gadolinium. Note the obvious ring enhancement on the gadolinium enhanced scans. Also note the prominent mass effect on the third ventricle and the lateral ventricles. Neurosurgical aspiration revealed pus and numerous gram (+) cocci.
