Herpes Encephalitis - Case 2

A 28 year old man presented with headache, fever and memory loss.

MRI Flair Axial Image - Note the prominent lesion in the medial left temporal lobe. A smaller area is present on the right. CSF PCR subsequently confirmed the diagnosis of Herpes encephalitis.  Herpes encephalitis has a predilection to involve the temporal lobes. It is essential to recognize this disorder early in order to institute prompt anti-viral therapy.
