Spinal Arteriovenous Malformation - Case 1

A 32-year old woman presented with acute severe neck pain, and weakness of the right arm and hand.

Outline the Hematoma

(Left) T2-weighted sagittal image; (Right) T2-weighted axial image. Note that there is a hypo-intense lesion from C6 - T2. As the lesion is dark on T2, it likely represent deoxyhemoglobin or intracellular methemoglobin. On the axial image, note that the lesion appears to be subdural in location. This is a subacute hematoma which occurred from a spinal AVM.
