Show the Trapped Lateral Ventricle                                Show the Contrast Enhancement of the Infection

CT Scans of the Head with Contrast. Note the ring enhancing lesion in the region of the anterior thalamus. Also note the the lateral ventricle is trapped at the foramen of Monro resulting in ipsilateral dilation of anterior and temporal horns of the lateral ventricles.  Toxoplasmosis is often seen as an opportunistic infections in AIDS and immunocomprised patients. They are often located deep in the basal ganglia and thalamus. Please note, this CT appearance is also consistent with tumor and infection of other etiology.
